I love chocolate frosting and this recipe is my favorite. It’s a frosting you cook on the stove top and pour over your cake. Use this recipe with your favorite box cake mix to make a very professional looking cake.
Make a Bundt cake, made with a box mix per directions. you can use any recipe also if you like for your favorite cake.
In a medium sauce pan bring to boil
4 Tablespoons butter, I use unsalted
3 tablespoons milk
Once butter is melted, remove from heat.
Add 2 tablespoons cocoa, whisk to incorporate
Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 pound of confectioner sugar, add a few tablespoons at a time until you get the right consistency. May need more or less than the 1/2 pound.
Whisk until smooth. The frosting will be runny, but it should not be to runny, add more sugar if you feel it should be thicker.
But it should be thin enough that when you pour it on the cake it will spread out evenly almost by itself.
Pour warm frosting over the cake. Work fast to smooth it, it dries fast.
Before the cake frosting dries, now is the time to add sprinkles.
Let cool and slice to eat.
