“I guess that’s the thing about high school reunions, though. They make you snap a little.”
In the ten years since high school graduation, Maylee’s career, living arrangements, family, and especially her love life are at a standstill. When her twin brother, Mitch, falls for her high school enemy at their ten-year reunion, Maylee’s life is catapulted into chaos.
Maylee’s hatred for the blonde-haired Josephine isn’t the only thing she discovers at her reunion. Benson Drake, the introvert from high school, has matured into a sexy intellect. Now a writer and bartender, Benson’s grown into a man with a perfect balance of quirky wit and sex appeal. After a wardrobe malfunction, a spy mission gone wrong, and a dangerous cup of coffee, Maylee and Benson explore something they never even thought about during senior year. Along the way, they find out that reconnecting with the past can change you… or maybe just help you find your true self.

A high school English teacher, an author, and a fan of anything pink and/or glittery, Lindsay’s the English teacher cliché; she love cats, reading, Shakespeare, and Poe.
She currently lives in her hometown with her husband, Chad (her junior high sweetheart); their cats, Arya, Amelia, Alice, and Bob; and their Mastiff, Henry.
Lindsay’s goal with her writing is to show the power of love and the beauty of life while also instilling a true sense of realism in her work. Some reviewers have noted that her books are not the “typical romance.” With her novels coming from a place of honesty, Lindsay examines the difficult questions, looks at the tough emotions, and paints the pictures that are sometimes difficult to look at. She wants her fiction to resonate with readers as realistic, poetic, and powerful. Lindsay wants women readers to be able to say, “I see myself in that novel.” She wants to speak to the modern woman’s experience while also bringing a twist of something new and exciting. Her aim is for readers to say, “That could happen,” or “I feel like the characters are real.” That’s how she knows she’s done her job.
Lindsay’s hope is that by becoming a published author, she can inspire some of her students and other aspiring writers to pursue their own passions. She wants them to see that any dream can be attained and publishing a novel isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

Love has never been Cheryl Brigham’s plan. She’s not cut out for second dates, relationships, or happily ever afters.

All that changes when she’s on vacation in Paris. First dates lead to second dates, which leads to a whole lot more than she ever bargained for—but she knows it’s all over when she returns home. That’s okay with her.

Until it’s not.

When it’s no-strings-attached, what will Cheryl do when her heart gets tangled up?

“I met a cute guy,” Cheryl blurted out.
“Already? That was quick.”
“It’s a gift. What can I say?” Cheryl replied as she unzipped her backpack.
“You can start with the details.”
“Well, it’s kind of your fault.” Sera rolled her eyes, the disbelief at Cheryl’s words evident. “Had you not haphazardly shoved that evil book in my backpack, it never would have accosted him as I walked by, and then I never would have shared a cab with him to my apartment.”
As Cheryl spoke, she unpacked some of her stuff, placing clothes in the tiny chest of drawers near the bed.
“Aren’t you tired as all get out?”
“Yeah, I am. But it’s kind of hard to sleep right now. I’m buzzing with excitement.”
“I’d be worried that you were sick if you didn’t buzz with excitement while you were in Paris.”
“Yeah, but….”
“But what?”
“It’s kind of lonely.”
“You hate people.” Cheryl glared at her computer screen. “Well, except me.”
Cheryl shrugged. “I don’t know. I guess it’s kind of the reality of you and Destin getting engaged. Maybe it’s time for me to grow up.” Cheryl fiddled with the necklace she wore, three stones in varying shades of green, while on the computer Sera played with her own, though hers was blue.
“Stop it.” The edge in Sera’s tone caught Cheryl off guard. “You’re playing with your necklace.”
“See, that just proves how immature I am.”
“Shut up. I’m playing with mine too. I always do. But you wouldn’t have that necklace if you hadn’t done the most amazing, unselfish, mature thing anyone could ever do.”
“Aww, if my tear ducts worked, I’d cry.”
Sera laughed. “Your tear ducts work just fine. You just don’t let yourself feel anything. Which is fine, because that’s just you, and I love you for that. But don’t ever convince yourself that you’re not mature.”
“Okay, maybe mature wasn’t the right word.”
“Nope. Try again.”
Cheryl put her now-empty suitcase into the closet. “Maybe I hitched my wagon to the wrong star, and I’m chasing the wrong dreams. Maybe art isn’t what I’m supposed to do.”

“You are definitely jet-lagged because I’ve never heard you say such things. Please go to sleep and call me when my best friend has returned and kicked this insecure little brat to the curb.”

Drop 12 round balls of biscuit dough in the pan in rows of 3×4

Genre: Fairy Tail/Lesbian Fiction

Source: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

From NYT Bestselling Author Izzy Szyn:
Wendi and Tink are the first in a series of Scandalous Fairy Tales that will have you looking at the stories these are based on in a different light.
Wendi is tired of men that act like little boys. Her latest relationship with Pan ended when she found him in her bed with another woman. But when one door closes another one opens, when Wendi gets a call to come in for an interview with Tee Belle of Tinker Toyz, she thinks her dreams of creating toys will finally come true.
Tee Belle needs another assistant, and believes that Wendi will be the perfect assistant, but there is one thing that Ms. Belle requires above all else: Wendi’s Obedience.

Wendi was tired of her old job and always wanted to work in a toy factory.  She would soon find out these were not your average children’s toys and this job she interview was no ordinary job.

Tee Belle, Wendi’s new manager would soon help her fulfill all of her fantasies.  Tee could get her hotter than Pan, her newly ex boyfriend ever did.  When they say this job is hands on it definitely is hands on, hands on every inch of Wendi that is.

This book is a hot, steamy short story.  It includes F/F, toys of course and very explicit sex scenes.  This is a great story to read with your partner for a bit of foreplay.  The spice level in this book is through the roof, so not for everyone, but those of you willing to try will not be disappointed.   A great read!!

The Kids Are On Vacation, Now What??

This week is vacation time for most kids around the US.  Its hard to find ways to keep them occupied especially if its still too cold to go outside.  Some fun things to do are dust off those board games and play chutes and ladders, candy land, go fish or Pictionary.  Whatever you have will work, but part of the fun is when you play the games with them.  It always seems like housework is never done, but nothing is as important as making memories with your family.  A fun thing to do too is get candid photos of everyone having fun.  You can make a photo album of the things you did this week and share the photos next year at vacation time.

Another fun thing I like to do is teach the kids to cook or bake.  You can find a ton of recipes that are kid friendly on Pinterest.  You could do the heavy mixing, but its fun to have the kids help, this is also a great way to teach fractions with the use of measuring cups.

Check your town or city for free or 1/2 off admission to art galleries, zoos or museums.  I know in my area the zoo is only $5 per person with free parking.  That is a great deal and its always fun to see the animals.

Whatever you choose to do, I hope you have fun!!

Have a safe & Happy Vacation week!!

Recipe: Stove Top Mac and Cheese

mac and cheese

Most kids are home for Presidents Day this week and Moms and Dads will be looking for ways to keep the kids fed and happy.  This recipe for Stove Top Mac & Cheese is easy and most kids of all ages love it.  Please stop by the blog later this week on ideas to keep the kids busy this week.

Mac and Cheese

  • 3/4 pound dry small pasta, I used spiral noodles
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups milk, I used skim
  • 2 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions.       Drain and set aside.
  2. To prepare béchamel , melt butter into a medium saucepan over medium heat. Once the butter is melted whisk in flour, salt and pepper. Stir and cook for about 3-4 minutes until roux gets slightly darker in color. Slowly whisk in the skim milk, stirring continuously until mixture thickens, this takes about 2 minutes. Reduce heat to a simmer and stir in cheese until completely melted.
  3. Transfer the cooked elbow pasta to a large pot over low heat. Pour cheese sauce over top, stirring to combine.
